What is the difference between Mobile Speak from the Store and the original Mobile Speak?

The functionality is nearly identical, but there are some differences. You can see all differences in detail in section 2.1 of the user manual:http://www.codefactory.es/download.asp?file=family_4/ms59_userguide_symbian.html. Mobile Speak from the Store can only be purchased and downloaded from the Nokia Store, while with the original Mobile Speak you must first purchase a license from an authorized dealer and then activate the license on your device.

 

Where is the user manual?

The Mobile Speak user manual can be found here: http://www.codefactory.es/download.asp?file=family_4/ms59_userguide_symbian.html. Any differences between the Store and the original version are detailed in section 2.1.

 

Can I use third party voices with Mobile Speak from the Store?

No, you can’t use third party voices like AcapelaFonix and LoquendoMobile Speak from the Store only supports Nokia and (on supported devices) Nokia HQ voices.

 

Where can I download more Nokia HQ voices?

Once Mobile Speak from the Store is installed, go to Configure Mobile Speak > Options > Product downloads > Download voices. This will open a web page from where you will be able to download and install all available Nokia HQ voices.

 

How do I buy Mobile Speak from the Store?

You can only purchase it from the Nokia Store. If you haven't already got one, you'll need to open a Nokia account, this can be done here:

http://store.ovi.com/login. Now go to the Mobile Speak from the Store web page at http://store.ovi.com/content/423506 (or search for it on the Store) and follow the instructions to purchase the app. Once purchased, you'll be able to download it and install it on your device.

 

How much does Mobile Speak from the Store cost?

The price varies depending on your region. Please go to the Mobile Speak from the Store page at http://store.ovi.com/content/423506 and log into your Nokia account and you'll be able to see the price.

 

What devices support Mobile Speak from the Store?

Mobile Speak from the Store is supported by all Nokia Symbian S60 devices which have access to the Store (essentially the same as the list of devices supported by Mobile Speak original, which is found here: http://codefactory.es/en/phoneslist.asp?id=343).

 

The Store is not accessible on my device. How can I get Mobile Speak from the Store?

We suggest using your PC and either using Nokia Suite (which should be accessible with the latest version of screen readers like Jaws) or by directly going to the Mobile Speak from the Store web page at http://store.ovi.com/content/423506 and following the purchasing and download instructions given earlier. If there are still problems, you may need sighted assistance to get Mobile Speak from the Store installed the first time.

 

Apart from not supporting third party voices, are there any other limitations to the version on the Store?

No, all other features are supported (e.g. Braille, Nokia Maps, Web, Email, Magnification).

 

How do I register Mobile Speak on the Store?

There is no need to register since it will work as soon as it is installed on your device. We recommend restarting your device after installation, and on restart the screen reader will be active.

 

Does the license expire?

No, once installed on your device it will never expire.

 

How do I get a trial of Mobile Speak on the Store?

There is no trial version of Mobile Speak from the Store. If you'd like to first try it to see how it would work, we recommend downloading the original Mobile Speak app from our web page at http://www.codefactory.es/en/downloads.asp?id=348#family_0 and activating a 30 day trial license. If you don't install any third party voices and just use the Nokia and Nokia HQ voices, then the functionality will be practically identical to Mobile Speak from the Store (keep in mind the different ways to start and stop the screen reader on the Store and original versions). Once the trial is complete, you can then purchase Mobile Speak from the Store, it will install over the top of and replace your original Mobile Speak app, which can be kept running to guide you through the installation process.

 

What happens if I purchase a new phone, accidentally delete the app or reformat my device? Do I need to pay again?

Nokia Store policy allows a limited number of additional downloads of purchased apps, so you'll be able to download it again for free for a limited number of times if you purchase a new device, reformat your device or uninstall it for any other reason. Keep in mind that once this limit is reached, you'll need to purchase it again. Please see http://store.ovi.com/help/faqs for more details.

 

Can I swap SIM cards on my device? Will this affect the license?

You can swap SIM cards as often as you wish, or not use a SIM card at all. Since Mobile Speak from the Store does not use a license like the original Mobile Speak, there are no restrictions related to the SIM card.

 

I have two devices. Can I install Mobile Speak from the Store on both of them?

Since the app is related to your Nokia account, then you will be able to download and install it for free on a different device for a limited number of times. Keep in mind that once this limit is reached, you'll need to purchase it again. See the Nokia Store policy for more information:http://store.ovi.com/help/faqs.

 

Can I install Mobile Speak from the Store on my friend's device?

Since the app is related to your Nokia account (which is related to your phone number), your friend's device should be related to a different Nokia account. Therefore, it is not possible to install on your friend's device and your friend should purchase it separately using his/her own Nokia account.

Can I install Mobile Speak on the Store and Mobile Speak at the same time?

No, they cannot be installed at the same time since the installation of one of them will replace the other.

 

If I switch between Mobile Speak from the Store and Mobile Speak original (or vice versa), what happens to my Mobile Speak configuration preferences?

Both versions share the same Mobile Speak configuration preferences. Therefore, preferences that you change will be kept if swapping between the original and Store versions of Mobile Speak.

 

Can I install Mobile Speak from the Store and Nokia Screen Reader at the same time?

Yes! Just like with the original Mobile Speak, you can install both Nokia Screen Reader and Mobile Speak from the Store at the same time (although of course only one can be active at any moment).

 

Can I use Braille with Mobile Speak from the Store?

Yes, Braille devices are fully supported, just like with Mobile Speak original.

 

Does Mobile Speak from the Store include support for Mobile Magnifier?

Does Mobile Speak from the Store support other Code Factory apps like Mobile Color Recognizer and Games?

Other Code Factory apps like Mobile Color Recognizer, Games (Mines, Tone Master, Spider and Fuse Mania) and the Ring Tone Maker will be available for purchase on the Nokia Store, please search for them on the Nokia Store or follow the direct links here:

They will also work with any screen reader (e.g. the original Mobile Speak, Nokia Screen Reader) or even without a screen reader active. There is no Store version of Mobile Daisy Player. However, if you purchase Mobile Daisy Player from a distributor and activate the license with Mobile Speak original installed, you can then install Mobile Speak from the Store and Mobile Daisy Player will keep working fine.

 

I have a touch screen device and Mobile Speak from the Store has started in Stylus mode. How do I switch to another touch mode like Keypad mode?

Mobile Speak for the Store will start in Stylus touch mode when launched for the first time. To change to one of the Mobile Speak touch modes, go into Configure Mobile Speak > move to active profile > Options > Customize profile > tab right twice to General tab > move down to 7th item Touch mode > change to the preferred setting. Alternatively, press Command key + volume up/down to cycle through the list of touch modes. How do I know if I have the original or the Store version of Mobile Speak installed on my device?

The Store version is v5.90.7, and only installs a single icon called "Mobile Speak" in the phone's default installation folder. The original version will have a slightly different version number (e.g. the latest is v5.90.2) and installs at least 3 icons (Start Mobile Speak, Stop Mobile Speak and Configure Mobile Speak) into a folder called "Code Factory".

 

I have a license for the original Mobile Speak. Do I get a discount if I want to purchase Mobile Speak from the Store?

No, since the licenses are completely different and unrelated, there are no discounts for existing users of Mobile Speak.
