Mobile Speak 4 is Cross Platform
With Mobile Speak 4, you can switch phones as many times as you want, and for free. You can switch from Symbian to Windows Mobile and vice versa.
Main Highlights of the Phone Number-Based Licensing Method:
- UNIFIED: The new licensing system is the same for the Symbian as well as the Windows Mobile platform.
- PHONE NUMBER-BASED: The new licensing system is based on your mobile phone number and is, therefore, no longer tied to a specific device.
- EASY TO REMEMBER: Your wireless phone number is your user ID.
- CROSS DEVICE: The software license is tied to your phone number. Therefore as long as you do not change phone numbers you can transfer your Mobile Speak or Mobile Magnifier license between devices, free, as many times as you wish.
- CROSS PLATFORM: Mobile Speak and Mobile Magnifier are not only cross device they are also cross platform, you can transfer your Mobile Speak or Mobile Magnifier license between supported Symbian phones, Windows Mobile Smartphones and Pocket PCs.
- DOUBLE FLAVOR: There are 2 flavors of Mobile Speak, Mobile Speak for Symbian and Mobile Speak for Windows Mobile. The Mobile Speak Smartphone application and the Mobile Speak Pocket application have merged into one product, Mobile Speak for Windows Mobile.
- AUTOMATIC DEACTIVATION: No need to deactivate your license from the old device before activating it on a new device.
- NO MORE PAPERWORK: If your phone is stolen, broken or lost, as long as you don't change phone numbers, you don't have to send us any kind of certificate, just install the software on your new device and activate it with your phone number.
- FEEL FREE TO CHANGE SIM CARDS: If you are a GSM user, there will not be any additional cost to change your SIM card as long as your phone number remains the same.
Note that for those who prefer to change phone numbers and use the same device, instead of being able to switch between devices but keeping the same phone number, they can choose Mobile Speak 4 with the device-based licensing method. Mobile Speak 4 uses the Touch screen in more than one way
With Mobile Speak 4, you have not one, not two but three DIFFERENT WAYS TO INTERACT WITH YOUR TOUCH SCREEN MOBILE PHONE. You can either use the classic keyboard commands, a brand new system of easy touchscreen commands, or simply move your finger around the screen and let Mobile Speak tell you what is below your fingertips. The choice is up to you, it will depend on your mobile device, your preferences, or even specific situations.
Mobile Speak Touch Interface has been redesigned from scratch, it is now much MORE POWERFUL and INTUITIVE than Mobile Speak Pocket, its predecessor.
MORE POWERFUL because Mobile Speak 4:
- Works on SYMBIAN as well as Windows Mobile, so it is compatible with phones such as the Nokia N97, Nokia 5800, Nokia 5230 and Nokia 5530.
- Lets you perform commands in 2 different ways, you can do everything with taps if your device doesn't have hardware keys but if your device has keys YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING WITH KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS. You decide what is the most convenient for you, using gestures or pressing keys.
- Allows you to activate a review cursor mode. WHEN YOU MOVE YOUR FINGER AROUND THE SCREEN, MOBILE SPEAK WILL READ WHAT IS UNDER YOUR FINGER and you only have to double tap to activate or invoke the item.
MORE INTUITIVE because Mobile Speak 4:
- Doesn't use hardware keys anymore (Ctrl, Tab, Shift and Alt), EVERYTHING CAN BE DONE WITH SLIDES AND TAPS. To get started, just try to do some slides up/down/left/right, it will reproduce the joystick arrows and double tap to enter.
- Keeps the 4 virtual keys but everything will be much easier, NO MORE THAN 2 TAPS TO PERFORM MOST OF THE COMMANDS AND EVEN A SINGLE TAP IN SEVERAL CASES. Remember that assuming that the touch screen is divided into four equal squares, two on top of the other two, the virtual keys are assigned to these areas of the screen, starting with the upper-left square and moving clockwise. They are thus numbered 1 (top left), 2 (top right), 3 (bottom right), and 4 (bottom left).
- GROUPS COMMANDS INTO FAMILIY LAYOUTS so that it is easier to remember how to access them. There are 3 command layouts: GO TO, SETTINGS and SPEAK. For example you will find the read status, read date and time or read softkeys commands inside the SPEAK layout; the increase or decrease volume and speed, change keyboard echo or mute commands inside the SETTINGS layout; and the move to previous and next control or show virtual keyboard commands inside the GO TO layout.
- DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO MEMORIZE ANYTHING, at anytime you can slide and hold and all the commands available on the current screen will be virtually displayed on a list, you slide down and up to scroll the list, and double tap to open the selected item.

Multi-Voice
When you buy a license of Mobile Speak 4 you don’t get 1, or 2, but 3 voices for the same price!
With Acapela and Loquendo Mobile Speak 4 allows you to use up to 3 voices from a single Text-To-Speech provider. That means that you can use either 3 Acapela voices or 3 Loquendo voices with only 1 license of Mobile Speak. Further, no matter which voices you choose to install first, you are not tied to them. As long as you don’t use more than 3 voices at the same time, you can switch voices as many times as you want. However remember that this feature is tied to the Text-To-Speech provider, so you will have to choose if you prefer to have 3 voices from Acapela or from Loquendo because you will not be able to mix voices from both providers.
To decide which voices you prefer, listen to the following Mobile Speak 4 voice samples.

Remember also that Mobile Speak Fonix comes with 9 voices. If you have a license of Mobile Speak Fonix and upgrade to Mobile Speak 4, you will have to purchase a second bundle of voice from Loquendo or Acapela to benefit from the Multi Voice feature and have three more voices for the price of one.
Mobile Speak 4 also supports new voices and languages:
- For both Symbian and Windows Mobile: Support for 8 newest Acapela voices including Dutch Belgian Jeroen, French Margaux, Greek Dimitris, Norwegian Olav, Portuguese Brazilian Marcia, Russian Alyona, Spanish Antonio, and Turkish Ipek.
- Only for Symbian: Support for Galop, new Czech TTS provider.
- Only for Windows Mobile: Support for 14 more Acapela voices including English UK Rachel and Kate, Finnish Matti and Sanna, French Canadian Louise, German Julia, Icelandic Snorri, Italian Vittorio, Norwegian Vegard, Polish Ania, Portuguese Eusebio, Portuguese Brazilian Felipe, Spanish US Rosa, and Swedish Elin. Support for 3 new Loquendo voices including Polish Krysztof and Zosia, and Spanish Carmen. Support for 6 new languages: Dutch Belgian, Finnish, French Canadian, Icelandic, Portuguese Brazilian, and Spanish US.
