(17/02/2010) Final Release Mobile Geo 2.0, Now available
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Terrassa (Barcelona), Spain, February, 17, 2010
Following the launch of the public beta on January 28, 2009, we are pleased to announce today the final release of Mobile Geo 2.0.
The three following known issues mentioned in the press release of the public beta of Mobile Geo 2.0 have been resolved:
- Improvements in both basic and advanced POI searches.
- Enhancements in Reverse Route functionality.
- Fixed unstable behaviors which appeared when passing highway ramps.
In addition to these bug fixes, we also added new functionality and improvements:
- GPS Replays: Ability to record and play back real GPS itineraries. You can record the input given by Mobile Geo and its GPS receiver on the go, and reproduce it later from home. When you reproduce the recorded itinerary you can interact with Mobile Geo as if you were there, following the itinerary in real conditions and searching for POIs and intersections while playing back the GPS data.
- The address lookup process has been optimized by reducing some redundant verbosity and making it faster.
To upgrade from the public beta to the final release of Mobile Geo 2.0, first uninstall the public beta of Mobile Geo 2.0 and then install the final release. IMPORTANT NOTE for HTC Touch Pro 2 users:
Due to some differences in how this device manages its Bluetooth COM port accesses, please follow these steps the first time you launch Mobile Geo in order to configure your external GPS receiver successfully:
- Pair your external BT GPS receiver using BT settings in your device. Configure it to work with a BT COM port.
- Turn off Bluetooth through Comm Manager (Start menu > Settings > Connections).
- Launch Mobile Geo. You’ll be asked to set GPS receiver settings; answer “Yes” and do it normally from the dialog that appears. You may ignore any possible prompts saying that the device cannot be found (this is normal since BT is off).
- Exit Mobile Geo.
- Turn on BT using Comm Manager.
Now you can launch Mobile Geo and work normally. Note that HTC TP2 devices will ask what device you want to use each time that an application attempts to access a BT COM port. Select your BT GPS receiver from the list (normally it has only 1 item unless you have more BT hardware connected to the same COM port).
Enjoy exploring the world with Mobile Geo 2.0!
